About the Pitch Competition

Career Town's Start-Up Pitch Competition gives young innovators a platform to validate ideas, practice pitching and receive mentorship from industry judges. The focus is on problem identification, viable solutions, and a clear plan to reach users.

Objectives

  • Encourage entrepreneurial thinking among students
  • Teach lean validation and pitch-building skills
  • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback

Format & Deliverables

Suggested structure — flexible to organisers' needs.

  1. Submission: One-page pitch summary + optional demo or prototype link.
  2. Prelims: 3-minute elevator pitch (slides optional).
  3. Semi-finals: 6–8 minute pitch + Q&A (judges ask questions).
  4. Finals: 8–10 minute pitch, investor-style Q&A, and live feedback.

Is the problem real and significant? Is the market sizeable?
Solution & Differentiation (25%)
How clear and defensible is the solution?
Business Model (20%)
Feasibility of revenue streams and unit economics.
Team & Execution (20%)
Does the team have what it takes to deliver?
Presentation & Q&A (10%)
Clarity, confidence and ability to handle questions.

Mentorship & Prize Support

Top teams will receive mentorship sessions with entrepreneurs and potential incubation guidance. Optional cash prizes, certificates and demo opportunities may be provided.
